Kiss The Ground

Kiss The Ground

Hello You Lovely Customers,

Hope you are all Safe and Well.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for ordering early last week. It is a great help to Bob, myself and our Crew. The harvesting of all our crops is very time consuming. The number of customers is increasing each week which means more goodies need to be harvested. If we have your orders in early and we harvest on time, we can provide you with your choice of Seasonal, Large Seasonal, or Create Your Own. However, any orders received after Tuesday morning will be limited to a Seasonal Box with no added extras. Sorry.

And, yes, our Crew is growing. We now have G on the farm. He is very much into the outdoor life and good food especially when it is locally grown. G is for Graham but also for Great Guy. (Maybe a bit cheesy!) It is fantastic to know that there are many people around our area who totally understand the way we want to grow our veg and tend our animals.

To help you find out more about our ways and methods of growing and why we are going down the Organic and No-Dig path may I suggest you watch ‘Kiss the Ground’. It is a film on Netflix which lasts about one and a half hours and is narrated by Hollywood A list film star, Woody Harrelson. It is definitely worth watching and confirms that Hexhamshire Organics is going down the right natural route which is good from all angles. The Crew certainly enjoyed the film and it has been our topic of conversation all week. We are telling everyone to watch it.

As promised last week, there will be many more jars of organic goodies coming to the website. All prepared by Faye, our star from Master Chef. Many of you (many many) have had the Organic Tomato and Chilli Chutney. We hope you enjoyed the jar either as a chutney, dip or as a sauce with pasta, rice or vegetables. Faye has also been preparing a Spicy Tomato Ketchup, Tomato and Chilli Jam, Red Onion Marmalade, Cucumber Pickle, Sweet Jams and has excitedly gone into over drive thinking about many more recipes! Faye is using only Hexhamshire Organics produce (except for the sugars, vinegar and Salt and Pepper). She is able to wander the tunnels and outside growing areas and discuss her recipes with me and the Crew. We are all quite happy to sample and sample again. I can tell you that, so far, the cucumber pickle is my fave. Lovin’ it on toast! The produce will be on the website very soon. Keep watching.

The weather is awful at the moment…..it chucked it down on Saturday. But my task on Saturday was to go and collect the bacon, gammon and hock from the butcher. It has been curing for four weeks, should be very tasty. We have also asked for Organic Gammon Steaks to be prepared this time…..they are also on the website.

Also new on the website are; Chinese Cabbage, Pak Choi, Corno di Torro Peppers, Mustard Leaves, and a selection of Winter Squash to choose from.

There is also a selection of Herbs back on the website – Bob forgot to put them on last week, don’t worry I have docked his wages.

Enjoy

Till next time, please, Stay Safe and Keep Dry,
Ann👩‍🌾
